SPRINGBORO COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE CENTER ASKS RESIDENTS FOR HELP,
December 4, 2007
Springboro residents and businesses are being asked to spread some holiday cheer this December by making donations to the Springboro Community Assistance Center. The center was created in February to aid local families who are in need of food and other services. All donated items and funds remain in the Springboro community.
The Springboro Community Assistance Center’s goal is not only to improve the quality of life for family members in need, but also to aid the family in becoming self-sufficient. The center currently assists more than fifty people each week.
Volunteer Wendy Ford, Crisis Intervention Coordinator for Springboro Schools, spearheaded the organization to assist families with children in the Springboro school system. Ford said, “It’s important that people realize their donations directly impact the children of the Springboro School District. We’re trying to help these kids thrive and be productive, both at school and at home.”
The center welcomes donations of almost any kind, and is particularly in need of all types of non-perishable food items, laundry detergent, dish soap, all-purpose cleaners, diapers, plastic food bags, and bath tissue. Gas cards, gift cards, and cash donations are always greatly appreciated. Donations to the organization are tax deductible.
The community is asked to take donated items to the Vanguard Imaging Partners Center at 630 North Main Street in Springboro by Friday, December 21. Mary Johnson, Director of Operations and Marketing for Vanguard Imaging Partners, said that Vanguard is proud to be involved in the drive to raise funds and donations of food and items. “Vanguard is here to support the community we call home. We want to help the SCAC meet its goals in every way that we can, from accepting donations to getting our employees motivated to help our neighbors in the community.”
Donations by check may be mailed to the SCAC, 1150 South Main Street, Springboro, Ohio, 45066. For more information on the Springboro Community Assistance Center, contact Wendy Ford at 937-748-3953, extension 2409.
